Sonoma Phoneman, now named Sonoma Phone & Home Theater, has happily outgrown a cramped office in Boyes Hot Springs and is stretching its legs in a new 850-square-foot storefront at 19310 Sonoma Highway, by the Fitness Factory.
Sonoma Phoneman was established in 1992 by husband and wife team Rich and Shirley Contreras. After their own unsatisfactory experiences dealing with large, impersonal telecoms, the two expanded their operations this year to include home theater systems and surveillance equipment.
At the new store, customers can design, purchase and schedule the installation of a home theater with free demonstrations at the in-store theater room.
The store also sells novelty and everyday phones, phone accessories, ESI-IVX business telephone system and surveillance equipment.
Customer Mary Ellen Ciptak, who recently moved here from L.A., was grateful to come across the new storefront. One of the things she brought with her in the move north was a cantankerous TV that refused to go high-definition despite the interventions of a parade of people.
Sonoma Phone & Home Theater technician Tim Collins solved her problem.
"He just went into the back of his truck and created this adaptor," Ciptak.
The personal service was a good welcome to Sonoma.
"There's so many places out there that don't provide that—even Panasonic who I bought the TV from," she said. "They're good people."
Sonoma Phone & Home Theater is located at 19310 Sonoma Highway and is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. To reach the store, call 996-1974.
